Portrait of the Scientist as a Young Man...

Ha. I just acquire a digital camera (thanks to Jessie for the link), via the ubiquitous trademe...

Portait of the Scientist as a Young Man

And on a semi-related note... the beast takes four AAs.... but what the hell has happened to rechargeable batteries. Like cellphone batteries certainly are smaller and charge faster these days. But varta have gone a step further. I have 15 minute charge AA batteries. It'll be interesting to see how the go in the long run (and the charge is not so cheap, but 15 minutes aint long to wait... (available from a Dickies near you)

Mine takes 4xAA too... but my charger takes about 5 hours! 15 minutes is waay fast.

Pity that they're twice the price of 5 hour ones (although not too much more than 1 hour NiMH). Also, the charger is quite noisy, as it has a fan(!) to dissipate heat.

my electrical buddy says that rechargeables don't have the grunt to power digital cameras for a decent amount of time. well, that's at the moment, until they release a lithium rechargeable onto the consumer market.

though that could all be a big electrical conspriracy.

The model that replaces mine has a lithium battery. However, they haven't packaged Lithium into an AA yet. Either way, mine still recharge in 15 minutes, which still rules. More photos soon!
